Hawaii is known for it's beautiful beaches and surfers but it is also a growing knife community. Hawaii is a wonderful place to visit - both for knives and as a tourist. Hawaiian locals have a lot to be proud of - gorgeous natural scenery, distinct cultural heritage, tropical plantlife, and a diverse choice of outdoor activities.
On July 27th 2006, a group of knife makers, engraver, collectors and the KnifeArt team had a chance to enjoy knife "Show & Tell". The group met at Gordon Birsch microbrewery just off Honolulu Harbor, very near the historic Aloha Tower. The group was organized by Marc Yamane, who also has a very nice custom knife collection. Many exceptional and rare custom knives were passed around for everyone to see; a great chance to learn more about knives. Later, we visited Stan Fujisaka's shop and had a nice dinner with his wife. Included are a couple of non-knife pictures I took from Hawaii.
