Terry Johnson

"The highly artistic creations of Terry Johnson stand out for their outstanding quality and workmanship."- Larry Connelley

Terry Johnson makes straight knives, folders and does incredible work with precious stones and silver. He recently published an article in the July 1998, Lapidary Journal, Heat Treating Steel Tools. Johnson knives are one-of-a-kind and express his strong artistic qualities.

Why make knives? "I enjoy making things, there is a certain satisfaction doing something and knowing you make it with your own hands. I started making a basic knife and progressed from there."

How do you see your knives? "The design of a knife and it's function is important to me. Expensive materials do not make a knife, the lines and the blade must be functional. Correct heat treatment and edge geometry play an important part in my knives."

What is your knifemaking history? "In 1985 I started making knives using the stock removal method, I began forging and damascus 5 years ago. I am one of the charter members of the Arkansas Knifemakers Association."
