Keith Coleman

Keith Coleman

Keith was born in 1955, a native of Albuquerque. Keith started making knives in 1980. In 1984 he applied for probationary membership in the Knifemakers Guild, and attained voting status in 1986.

After almost 20 years in the diesel mechanic field, Keith went into full time knifemaking in 1992. "It was a bit scary and a big step, but with the support of my wife Wendy, and all our great customers, it has been a good move."

Keith enjoys working with his hands and creating from raw materials. Whether it be his beautiful knives, or the building and restoration of electric guitars, he is always working to improve his skills and craftsmanship.

Asked if he has any regrets in becoming a full time knifemaker Keith says he just wishes there were more hours in the day. All his work is sole authorship except the critical heat treating of the high-tech steels. "That is left to Paul Bos."

Any last words? "There are so many that I would like to thank for their help

and encouragement thru the years, but there isn't enough space. I must mention several who have been very important in my career - Joe Cordova, D'Alton Holder, Bob Terzoula, and my buddy, Lionel Louviere, Jr. Most of all is my wife of 19 years, Wendy, and our Great Creator, who has allowed me to realize the desires of my heart."
