Keith Ouye continues in the foot steps of the best Hawaiian knifemakers. He has his own knifemaking style, that is both unique and functional.
Ouye enjoys making knives with durable materials that are suitable for the harshest environments - titanium for strength and stainless steel for blades/fittings. His designs are modern and influenced by his beautiful natural environment in Hawaii. This full-time knifemaker works in a compact but well equipped shop just a short walk away from the beach.
Keith has been making knives since 2003 under the watchfull instruction of fellow Hawaiian, Stan Fujisaka. He learned a lot from Fujisaka and commented, "I want to acknowledge Stan Fujisaka for his influence in my knifemaking. He challenged me to make knives and helped me along the way."
Ouye knives are extremely smooth opening and exhibit a high level of fit and finish. Keith Ouye has also teamed up with one of the best engravers in Hawaii, C.J. Cai, to create collaboration knives of the highest caliber. We see a lot of promise in the work of this full time knifemaker and are very pleased to represent his functional works of art.
Keith Ouye was born in a small sugar cane farming community on the Big Island of Hawaii. He values hard work. Later he moved to Honolulu and worked in the telecommunication business until he retired in 2001. He has a lovely wife and three grown children. He enjoys his family, beach front fishing, hunting, asian food and gardening in his tropical valley neighborhood. Keith has a warm personality with the "aloha spirit" of Hawaii.
