Magnus Axelson +Magnus Axelson was was born in 1970 and has lived most of his life in Sandviken, Sweden. The home of one of Sweden's largest steel companies.
According to Magnus, "I have been fascinated with knives for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until 2001 that I started making knives." The desire to make knives grew from a need for a special knife for my longbow archery - his requirements were that the knife had to be durable, yet very compact.
Axelson has acquired the skills of knife making mostly by trial and error, and the fellowship of other knife makers. Axelson's preference for making knives is working with damascus and carbon steels. He enjoys creating handles with lots of "life and depth". Some of his favorite handle materials are desert ironwood, yew burl, mammoth ivory, snakewood and stonevine. Axelson mentioned that he feels like a tiny part of his spirit is worked into each individual knife. He strives to use materials that reflect that inner-feeling and inspiration.
In the future he intends to keep exploring the endless possibilities that knife making offers, and grow his business in the process. Two other things that inspire Axelson are longbow archery and the freedom of motorcycle riding. Furthermore, his designs also influenced by viking/medieval times. He deeply loves his family and share his life with a wonderful fiancée Marianne, and his young daughter Elin (which his loves more than life itself) and 'man's best friend' and companion Älmer, the dog.
