Roger Massey Master Smith"Master Smith Roger Massey has an eye for perfection and beauty." - Larry Connelley
Roger Massey makes a clean, balanced, and well designed knife. It takes days and weeks to make knives of such immeasureable quality. Massey knives are made in very limited numbers.
At the Blade Show in 1998 he was awarded "Best Hunter/Utility Knife"- a very prestigous award. His knives have also been featured in various knife publications.
Why do you make knives? "I always believe there was an artist in me and as a youngester I enjoyed folding knives. I have always wanted to make knives, the mechanics of knifemaking is very interesting to me."
What is important in a knife you make? "First it must be a cutting knife and must be usable. Each knife is tested before it finished. I work toward perfection in each knife I make."
What is your knifemaking history? "At 10 years old I loved knives. Ever since then I strived for an excellent knife. In 1991, I went to the bladesmith school at Old Washington and started working towards my Master Smith. I achieved the Master Smith status in 1995."
Knifemaking as an Art? "Knifemaking is an art form. It has surely been a creative outlet for me."
