Nico Pelzer

Born in 1970 in Pretoria, South Africa Nico Pelzer has quickly become one of the best knifemakers in his country and recognized an "rising star" around the world. His ultimate knifemaking goal is to recognized as "one of the best folder makers in custom knives."

In 1998, Nico started making knives and was driven by his childhood fascination of knives. When he first saw his first handmade knife made by a local knifemaker he began to learn the art of knifemaking. Afterwards he joined the prestigious South African knifemakers guild in 1999. He became a full time knifemaker in 2004.

His first love in knives is the folder. Pelzer mentioned that he loves the challenge of making something with many parts and finishing a project to completion. Nico stated that he strives to create a knife with "smooth opening action, best fit/finish, and the highest quality materials". Looking over his knives I can assure you they meet and even surpass these high standards.

Nico is blessed by a wonderful wife and three beautiful children. His life revolves around his family and knifemaking. Nico has a kind heart and big smile. He expressed that he "constantly strives to be a better husband and dad." Nico enjoys fishing, hunting and the watching the beautiful South African wildlife.
