Don Hicks

"Don's knives exhibit incredible craftsmanship and feature some of the most beautiful damascus I have ever seen." -Larry Connelley

"Possum" Hicks has long been known in Arkansas as one of the finest knifemakers. I am pleased to feature his knives and know you will enjoy them.

Why make knives? "When I was getting ready to retire I started making knives and buying equipment. I am self taught- I just tried it. I like to make folding knives, lock blades and straight knives."

What is important in a Possum Knife? "First, the metal is very important. The metal and the knife must match. Second, the knife must work with a good folding mechanism. Third, both function and looks must be together."

What is your knife making history? "I have been a iron worker and welder for the last 35 years. I have been making knives for 12 years now."
