Rob Brown

Rob Brown was born and raised in South Africa within casting distance of the Indian Ocean. According to Brown, "I developed a great love for the outdoors. The bushveld, rivers and ocean, with all the game that abounds there, formed an integral part of my life." On completion of his formal education he pursued a career as an architectural assistant. Rob's attention to detail is evident in his clean functional artistry.

Rob began building custom fishing rods in 1985 to support some of his other outdoor interests. While I am sure he had a fantastic fishing rod he needed a good quality knife. With the book, "How to make Knives" by Bob Loveless, Rob made his first knife and was introduced to a world of knives.

Rob became a member of the "Southern African Knifemaker's Guild" in October 1986 and by the end of 1988 took up knifemaking as a full-time occupation and has won numberous knifemaking awards and honors.

Rob works in a one man shop, pipe in hand, with a fantastic view of the Indian Ocean. His knives are all built one at a time. Rob crafts knives in a wide variety from upscale investor class to utility hunters - each one to the highest degree of craftsmanship possible.
