Shawn McIntyreAs an young man Shawn developed a love for hiking, camping and outdoor activities. "Living in the woods in Pennsylvania as a young lad gave me the enjoyment for the outdoors, including knives”. At age twenty, Shawn decided to learn more about traditional forged knives and enrolled at the Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing in Washington, Arkansas. For the next several years he developed his knowledge and skill as a part-time bladesmith.
In the meantime, Shawn fell in love with an Australian and moved to Melbourne Australia in 1999. He carried with him his love for knifemaking, artistic creation and the outdoors. With knowledge from the ABS School and the help of other Australian knifemakers, Shawn launched into a full-time career as a knife & tool maker. His emphasis is in forging fixed blades in carbon and damascus steel. A recent member and officer of the Australian Knife Makers Guild, he is gaining a reputation for both high quality working and presentation knives.
Shawn has developed a wide repertoire of styles from full tang hunters, mosaic bowies, integrals, kukris and the odd suit of armour. Shawn undertakes all aspects of knifemaking from forging, heat treatment to leather sheaths.
Trademarks of a McIntyre knife are high quality fit and finish, balance and performance.
