The Benchmade 556-1 is a compact griptilian model with the added features of having dual thumb studs and a handle of durable textured gray g-10. This mini-gripilian is a perfect size for everyday carry, providing a 2.91" in a compact carry friendly package.
The blade on the mini-griptilian is a drop point blade of American-made particle steel produced in the Crucible Industries foundry in NY State. The stainless steel blade of CPM-20CV with a heat treatment of RC 59-61 provides the user with outstanding edge retention and stainless capabilities. A key feature of this knife is the dual thumb studs make the knife very easy to open with either hand.
The handle of the 556-1 mini is gray and blue g-10, the g-10 is upgrade over the standard griptilian because of its increased strength, rigidity and impact resistance. The handle surface on the knife is a low relief diamond checkering that provides a positive grip without excess friction points on the handle. The AXIS lock provides a secure locking mechanism that is easily accessed for both lefty and righty users. The pocket clip can be reversed for right or left pocket carry and is a deep carry design.
