The Hidestoshi Nakayama Stainless Steel Ride the Wind pen is a masterfully crafted pen that represents decades of work by the artist, with over 15 years of carving Netsuke (literally small sculptures).
The pen body is hand turned from one piece of stainless steel, making it very long lasting and without seams. The balance created from the tapered tip and custom contours make the pen very comfortable to hold and extremely easy to write with. Of course, it is much more unique than an ordinary pen, with features to match.
The ball point mechanism can be kept open or closed, allowing for incredibly smooth writing when opened yet preventing any leaking when closed. It will definitely be difficult to write with anything else once you've started using this pen, both because of its comfort and writing. If you do run out of ink, it easily refills with Caran d'Ache of Switzerland, Giant Goliath cartridge, 8428.000 ink refills. Just unscrew the bottom of the pen and insert the refill.
The steam punk design itself is also functional; pressing the top extends the wing and engages the ball point. The wing then rests comfortably on the top of your hand as you write, never getting in the way and also helping the pen feel even lighter as you write. When you're finished, just press the extended wing back down to retract the ball point.
Because it is hand turned, there are a limited number of this pen, and its stainless steel construction means that it will last a lifetime (or more).
