Fred Durio started making knives in 1986 as a part-time maker but for the last three years he has been full-time. His specialities are folders. Because Fred is a member of the American Bladesmith Society expect to see his folders carry his own forged damascus. When I asked Fred about his accent he said, "I live in the heart of Cajun country and love crawfish."
Recently Fred won the first ever ABS "fold-in" cutting competition. In this competition his folders cut the best and held a keen edge. Besides holding a great edge, Fred's knives really look great. He has also recently won the Best Bowie at the Texas Show.
