Dwaine Carrillo

Dwaine Carrillo started making knives from a desire to create, in his eyes, the ultimate knife. Dwaine is a self-taught knifemaker and a life long entrepreneur. In his own words he wanted to "create a kick-ass multifunctional knife and sheath." He has a diverse background in hunting, rodeo riding, airbrush art, firearms coatings, and enjoys boating on his free time.

Prior to becoming a full-time knifemaker Carrillo specialized in concealment systems and firearms coatings. This lead him to experiment with coatings on other products such as knives.

His knifemaking philosophy is based on a desire to create a heavy duty working tool and a high quality leather sheath. For Carrillo the sheath is a not merely an afterthought, it is a functional carry system. Many consider his sheaths to be the best in the business. Options on his sheaths may include a removale lensatic compass, magnesium firestarter, multiple lashing points, leg strap and ceramic sharpener. His sheaths are made from heavy duty 8-10 oz cowhide leather. Combine the multipurpose sheath and a knife made out of 1/4" thick stock and you have a functional tool kit.

For Dwaine his career move into knifemaking was a natural progression, "I have been into art most of my life. I have worked on everything from airbrushing murals to graphics on motorbikes."
