Warren Osborne, a native of Australia, now calls Texas his home. He immigrated to the USA working as an expert horse trainer and rancher. According to Osborne, "From early childhood, knives or anything with a blade, were of great interest to me." Now Osborne is one of the most recognized names in custom knives, with a reputation for incredible fit and finish of the highest caliber.
During his ranching work he started sharpening and making knives is his spare-time. He laughed and said, "At this point my knives were made exclusively, using a file and an electric drill. Time was cheap and so were the files." Osborne eventually began experimenting with knifemaing using steel from crosscut saws, chainsaw bars, galvanized telephone poles and any other scrap steel.
Osborne knives have evolved a long way since his early days in knifemaking.
He commented, "After a year of full-time knifemaking, I finally joined the Guild as a probationary member in 1985." Becoming a full-time maker was a big transition for him, requiring more production and higher quality standards. He added, "Quality has always been the motivation for me, bringing tight tolerances and fine hand finishes into one complete package. Back then it was 600 grit satin finish. Right now I am achieving between 2,000 and 3,000 grit hand rubbed finishes."
Specializing in pocket knives set him on a course to interframes. In early 2000, he purchased a machine to cut pockets and concentrates on this style of knife. You can see that engravers and collectors have made an Osborne a favorite choice in the world of knives. We are extremely proud to represent his work and recommend him to you.
