Winkler Combat Axe - Black Cord - Sculpted Black Laminate Handle

The Winkler Combat Axe with Sculpted Black Laminate handle and black paracord wrap is a purpose-built spike breaching and combat tool developed in direct collaboration with U.S. Special Operations Forces. Daniel Winkler, ABS Master Bladesmith, incorporated feedback from four team-specific breaching axes he built for SOF teams into this production design. The result is a 1 lb 11 oz. axe that matches the weight specification carried by elite operators in the field.

The axe head is 80CrV2 carbon steel with a black Caswell no-glare finish. Head length is 5 7/8 inches overall with a 2.5-inch cutting edge and 3/8-inch blade thickness. Overall length is 13 3/4 inches. The skeletonized full tapered tang runs the length of the handle to reduce weight and eliminate handle failure. The end of the handle tang is exposed for impact utility and has a lanyard hole. Forward weight distribution delivers maximum force on impact, and a secondary hand grip position under the head gives quick transition capability in close quarters. The integral glass breaker extends beyond the handle end for forced entry operations.

This configuration features a sculpted black laminate handle and is wrapped in black paracord. The black laminate is a dense, stable composite hand-contoured by Winkler, and the paracord wrap adds grip texture while doubling as a functional field resource that can be removed and used if needed. The all-black presentation across head, laminate, and paracord gives this configuration a low-visibility profile distinct from the wasp laminate version.
