The 80CrV2 high carbon stainless steel alloy is hard with an HRC of 57-58, but not so hard as to be impossible to maintain a sharp edge but extremely flexible. The high vanadium content reduces corrosion and gives the Contingency strength as well as hardness, which are both critical in a high-use, everyday carry knife. The 5/32" blade stock is honed to a razor's edge, which can take a lot of punishment. The black oxide no-glare finish prevents marring, reduces oxidation, and improves stealth in low-light conditions. Jimping on the back of the blade gives you extra support for power and precise cutting.
