The Sebenza 31 made its debut at the BLADE show in June 2019 and since then it has been making some serious waves for knife enthusiasts and collectors alike. Previously, the Chris Reeve Sebenza 21 had been at the height of everyday carry knife design and craftsmanship, with materials and construction with almost no rival. Improved machining methods and equipment make the Sebenza 31 adhere to even higher tolerances than any of its predecessors. Signifying 31 years of Chris Reeve knives, the Sebenza 31 was an improvement on perfection.
The Chris Reeve Large Sebenza 31 is 8.335" in overall length with a 3.625" blade made of CPM S45VN stainless steel, which was forged by Crucible Industries specifically with Chris Reeve knives in mind using vanadium and niobium to create extremely tough and hard tool steel. The drop point blade is hollow ground for the best slicing profile with a stonewash finish for extra protection against corrosion. With a Rockwell hardness of 59-60, it is extremely hard and holds a razor-sharp edge, and endures all sorts of punishment cut after cut.
The frame lock locking device is incorporated into the blasted 6AI4V titanium handle and features a ceramic ball to reduce wear at points where steel and titanium meet, which provides secure locking and functionality. The off-set clip is an improvement over the Sebenza 21 as well, giving the user a more comfortable grip. The blasted titanium finish not only looks amazing, but it also feels good in the hand and reduces weight, even though the 31 has an ample grip with wider inlays than previous Sebenzas. The Sebenza 31 gives you the freedom to clean and lubricate the perforated bronze phosphor pivot washers or switching out thumb studs and spacers to customize your knife. You can easily field-strip the entire knife with an allen wrench to make sure it is maintained properly.

We all know the knife, itís everything you need in a folder and nothing you donít. It is easily a one and done folder for life. Knife Arts customer service is outstanding and I received the knife lightening quick. Just buy one
Knife was found to be very stiff on opening but after frequent opening and closing it began to smooth out. The detent also smoothed out. After this initial break in I disassembled the knife and cleaned and lubed it with the supplied crk grease and continued the break in. Knife is much smoother now and getting better. There is no evidence of lock rock or lock bar flex or side blade play. The knife is extremely sharp from the factory and am hoping that with continued use and break in it will approximate the smoothness of my sebenza 21 and large inkosi. In short, I like it.
This was my first purchase from KnifeArt and am very pleased with both the availability of knives I'm interested in and the prompt service in ordering and receiving the CR Sebenza 31.
Received my knife quickly for a great price. Will definitely purchase through knifeart again!
Great turn around on my order. Issues with lock rock in the 31 seem to be fixed. Been using everyday since it arrived. Not a huge fan of the factory edge (slight convex) but thatís easily remedied.
Excellent knife as you would expect from Chris Reeve. Couldn't be happier with the quality and design which should last a lifetime. Truly a knife to pass down!!!
Excellent piece great design fit and finish! Customer service was excellent delivery was quick!
Top quality knife and awesome service and shipping from KnifeArt. The 31 is ultra smooth, and lockup everywhere is like the proverbial bank vault. I'm a very happy customer!

If you have a drawer full of benchmades and not a Sebenza you're truly missing out. This knife obtained legendary status years ago, and Tim Reeve refined this knife even further. Having a Large 21 Starbenza i was skeptical of the andquot;improvementsandquot;, but I was wrong. The ceramic detent has to be felt to understand. The action is smooth and hydraulic and the best part is absolutely no lock stick.5th or 6th purchase from Knife Art. There's a reason for that. You get same day shipping, extra care packaging, and i think they called me, but i fended it off as a spam risk.
I ordered this knife at exactly 2 PM, and it traveled from Arkansas to North Dakota in 21 hours and 45 minutes at my door step with FedEx. Remarkable.
Buy with confidence, buy a Sebenza, and definitely buy from these folks.
I have long wanted to own a Sebenza for it's reputation for award winning excellence as a near perfect production edc knife. Simply said, this knife is incredible in hand, pictures and YouTube reviews do not do this simple yet precisely executed design justice, I am so glad I finally jumped in and bought one. This will not be my last Chris Reeve blade but I was told by a few people to start off with the classic Sebenza!
To add to my excitement this is also my first purchase from KnifeArt and they have made a customer for life. Never before have I received a phone call follow up after placing my order to confirm address and product selection. Never before have I received ANY product ordered online in LESS THAN 36 hours flat in perfect condition. I am only a single example but in my mind I say order with confidence! Cheers!
GREAT knife and excellent shopping experience
Firstly Iím a bit biased. I own 4 other CRK knives- a large and small 21, a large 21 carbon fiber, and an umnumzaan. This 31 is everything you love about the 21, with subtle improvements. No milling hole, ceramic ball detent. All things that makes a perfect knife... more ...perfect? Ha. All seriousness, CRK is a company thatís in pursuit of perfection. And with every iteration they get closer. The tolerances are ridiculous. The lock up is a bank vault. Zero play, up down, or side to side. Presentation is always top notch. Is it worth $450..IMO, absolutely!
Also, Knifeart is amazing. The shipping speed was crazy. It was on its way to my house 4 hours after I hit ďcomplete purchaseĒ button. My favorite online knife retailer.
