KnifeArt Exclusive Carbon Fiber Large Sebenza 31 - CPM MagnaCut

KnifeArt Exclusive Carbon Fiber Large Sebenza 31 - CPM MagnaCut
We designed this KnifeArt exclusive Carbon Fiber Large Sebenza 31 with one goal: to build the best EDC-worthy Sebenza knife on the market. The standard Large Sebenza 31 is already the most trusted folding knife in the world, but it was designed as an all-titanium knife, and it carries like one. We went to Chris Reeve Knives directly and asked them to build us a Large Sebenza 31 with a carbon fiber front scale that would be light in the pocket, strong enough for hard use, and precise enough to meet their exacting standards. What came back is the best everyday carry folding knife we have ever handled. The Carbon Fiber Large Sebenza 31 weighs in at just 3.7 ounces - a full ounce lighter than the standard all-titanium Large Sebenza 31. That is a meaningful difference when a knife lives in your pocket all day, every day. And it gives up absolutely nothing in strength, lockup, or fit and finish.
This is a KnifeArt exclusive. You cannot buy this Chris Reeve Knives Large Sebenza 31 Carbon Fiber configuration from any other dealer.
Carbon Fiber Front Scale - Lighter, Stronger, Purpose-Built for EDC
The front handle scale is solid carbon fiber, fully machined and lapped by Chris Reeve Knives in Boise, Idaho to the same tolerances they hold on every Sebenza that leaves their shop. This is not a cosmetic overlay. It is a structural carbon fiber scale that is incredibly rigid, textured for grip, and significantly lighter than the titanium it replaces. The back side is full integral lock blasted titanium - the same legendary frame lock that Chris Reeve Knives essentially invented, and that defined the modern framelock folding knife over 30 years ago. The combination of carbon fiber and titanium gives you a Large Sebenza 31 that drops a full ounce of carry weight while locking up with that bank-vault solidity that Sebenza owners know. You have to hold this knife to appreciate the difference. It feels faster in the hand, quicker to deploy, and balanced in a way the all-titanium version is not.
CPM MagnaCut Blade - The Best Steel Chris Reeve Knives Has Ever Used
The blade on this Carbon Fiber Large Sebenza 31 is CPM MagnaCut stainless steel at 63-64 HRC. MagnaCut was engineered by metallurgist Larrin Thomas and has quickly become the gold standard in premium blade steel. It holds an edge longer than S45VN, resists corrosion better than S35VN, and is tougher than both. Chris Reeve Knives grinds the MagnaCut blade with a shallow hollow grind that gives you a thin, razor-sharp working edge with enough steel behind it to handle hard use. Jimping on the thumb rest of the blade spine gives you added forward traction and control. This is a blade that performs as well on day 500 as it did on day one - and that is saying something on a Sebenza, where owners measure the life of their knife in decades, not years.
Fit, Finish, and the Details
Blue anodized titanium thumb stud and spacer give this Large Sebenza 31 a subtle touch of color without being flashy. The blasted titanium pocket clip is mounted for tip-up carry and has just the right amount of tension to hold the knife in place without fighting you on the draw. The frame lock uses a ceramic lock ball that interfaces with the blade tang - ceramic does not wear the way steel on steel does, so your lockup stays tight for the life of the knife. Black braided lanyard comes attached with a KnifeArt exclusive blue anodized titanium lanyard bead - a detail unique to this configuration that you will not get on any standard Chris Reeve Knives model.
Made by Hand in Boise, Idaho
Every Sebenza is made in the USA at the Chris Reeve Knives facility in Boise, Idaho. The carbon fiber scales, the titanium frames, the MagnaCut blades - all of it is machined, fitted, and finished by the Chris Reeve Knives team. This is not an assembled-overseas knife with an American flag on the box. When Chris Reeve Knives started making the Sebenza over 30 years ago, they set the standard for what a precision folding knife could be. That standard has not slipped. The Large Sebenza 31 Carbon Fiber ships with a hex tool, Chris Reeve Knives fluorinated grease for pivot maintenance, chamois cloth, attached lanyard and exclusive bead, and all Chris Reeve Knives paperwork and registration documentation. This knife carries the Chris Reeve Knives lifetime warranty and is eligible for their spa service, where you can send it back to Boise for professional cleaning, sharpening, and refurbishment.

Product Reviews
This knife is so light - I made it my new EDC. Weight matters, quality matters.
Super fast and reliable service from KnifeArt.
I've acquired a few CRK variants over the past several years. I've been pleased with the fit and finish of each one - but the carbon fiber exclusive is something truly special. Between the weight reduction, feeling in hand, and incredible aesthetic, I've already pulled the trigger for a few other CF variants. Honestly, I'll probably sell most, save a couple of hard use beaters and focus on the Knifeart collection. Defintely heirloom quality materials and worksmanship!
I never fully understood the appeal of a multiple hundred dollar knife but after a week with this knife I completely understood, this knife feels like it's going to last a lifetime with it's rock solid lockup and CF.
It's everything everyone has ever said about CRKs. It locks up solid, and it's not bad to learn how to open. Once you learn how to situate your hand it opens smoothly. The CF version is definitely a version that I would highly recommend (if you can ever get your hands on one nowadays)

After years of trying, I was finally able to snag one of these exclusive’s. Took me about 30 or so minutes to get through the 5 min wait that kept refreshing. Anyways.. fit and finish is top notch, as you’d come to expect with CRK. I love the carbon fiber show side. Probably the best looking slab I’ve ever seen on a knife, aside from high dollar customs. Brings the weight down a bit also, which is a good thing I’m my opinion. The CF doesn’t take away from anything that a regular Sebenza provides. Still has the bank vault lock-up and excellent centering with no blade play in any direction. Smooth action right out of the box with the particular one I received. I’m not a lanyard type guy, but I’ll keep this one on. The exclusive bead adds a subtle nice touch to the overall appearance. This one is a keeper forsure.
Incredible knife.
Nice Knife and Great Service. Thanks
Love the feel of the carbon fiber. There's nothing else quite like this version of the Sebenza
My third CF exclusive from Knife Art and they continue to be perfect. The carbon fiber on the 31 is slightly different than on my Inkosi and 21 - the face is totally flat and smooth, whereas it used to have a slight texture to it. Makes no difference to me because the knife is truly superlative.

It’s lightweight, ultra-strong, and razor sharp. The lockup is bank-vault tight and the action is buttery smooth. Noticeably better action out of the box then my new large Inkosi. Not sure how you can get much better than this!
Fast shipping. Knife came packaged well and the knife was perfect!

Long awaited, promptly received (3 days to arrive in Versailles, France), immediatly adopted ;-)
My 2012 Small Sebenza daily EDC will have to share my pocket with this new arrival. Was not sure if the increase in size for this Large model would be a problem, but absolutely not... Such a perfection in fabrication. And thanks to Knifeart for the service (I indeed wrote too many mails to inquire if stocks would come back)
This knife really is a work of art, beautifully finished carbon fibre scale and TI locking scale.
Typical sebenza smoothness and build quality.
I'll most likely get another with a tanto blade at some point when I've saved up.
Everything i was expecting and more. This is my first sebenza and i a very pleased and will be getting several more in the future. this website is awesome and was a very fast delivery.

I would recommend this carbon fiber sebenza to anyone! It is smooth as butter to open, razor sharp, and the carbon fiber keeps the weight nice and light
This knife is outstanding! I am amazed at how it feels in the hand. The action is smooth and the attention to detail and precision fit is evident at once. The carbon fiber is beautiful. A very light and comfortable knife to carry. I am already planning my next Sebenza purchase. Thank you KnifeArt.com. Another satisfied customer.
This is a beautiful knife! Great workmanship and execution of the details. Feels great in the hand and opens and closes with smooth precision. The carbon fiber finish is awesome. Very satisfied. Also, this is my second purchase from KNIFEART and each time they shipped my knife the same day as ordered. That's great service! I highly recommend the large carbon fiber Sebenza 21 and KNIFEART!
I real like the knife when I open the box to touch my knife for the the first time the first impression of this knife is the smooth texture of the knife and I could feel how well it's made. I don't have any bad thing to say about this knife. For me this Chris Reeve large Sabenza 21 carbon fiber is like a cool knife that i could us every day and an art work
This is my 13th Chris Reeve Knife... And it is unbelievable!...as are the last 12. I've yet to find a flaw in any CRK. This Carbon fiber differs from that on my Sebenza 25 and I'm happy that they're different. Surprisingly lighter weight than the full titanium Sebenza. Knife Art has quickly become my favorite dealer. They'll treat you well.
Great knife from 2 great companies - Chris Reeve & Knifeart.com. I will definitely keep them in mind for future purchases.
The fit and finish is simply exceptional! Even straight out of the box, not broken in, it already operated very smoothly. The carbon fiber does not only look beautiful, the weight difference to the full titanium Sebenza is also noticeable in hand. Shipped to Europe within 4 days.
Speechless, definitely the best knife I have. Lightweight, robust, unrivaled quality.
While all knives are made to cut things, some are made to also be real lookers. The Sebenza 21 CF is one that combines both function and beauty in one very tight package. The weight is minimal given the carbon fiber scale and makes the large size 21 unnoticeable in the pocket while being carried. Nothing needs to be said about CRK and the Sebenza 21 and service from KnifeArt was great, so good that I purchased another in the Insingo blade shape a week later. Gorgeous tool, almost too nice to use but hey - knives are made to cut things.

This is my second Sebenza the first being an "artsy" small Sebenza. As I always have a knife in my pocket I prefer them to be unobtrusive, meaning light, compact, there-but-not-noticed. So, the large Sebenza had a very real potential to become a "safe queen" if I were to purchase one. THEN I saw the carbon version and the (expensive) gears starting whirring. Perhaps, just perhaps, the knife would be light enough to ride along without bothering me while giving me more knife than the small Sebenza (and what man DOESN't want and need MORE knife, I asked myself).
The knife is exactly what I hoped it would be. Supremely crafted, understated, rock-solid, perfect fit in my hand and, happiest of all ... it disappears in my pocket.
Knives are very personal tools and thus garner as many opinions as there are owners. I love to give knives as gifts and have given many very nice knifes to people over the years. My Sebenzas, my Fallkniven F1 and my fancy William Henry will probably require my decease-ment before becoming the property of someone else. Or maybe I'll just have tossed in the casket with me - which would be both noble AND insurance in case some hasty coroner mistakes my deep, manly slumber for death.
Sorry, I digress, it's a great knife, sell your wife's car, BUY ONE. You deserve it.
LOVE IT!!!
This was a well investigated and thought out purchase. I was not disappointed in any way. From the speed of delivery, to what came in the package, this knife has become my EDC from when it arrived. It is so well made and to the unknowing it appears to be "just another knife" until they realize how well it is assembled and the materials used in that assembly. That puts this Sebenza in a class of its own and I am honored to say I own it. Thanks for a GREAT product, I am PROUD to say that I am fortunate to own a SEBENZA. Daryl
This knife is amazing. I couldn't be happier with mine. The Large Sebenza 21 is a fantastic knife, but carbon fiber makes everything better. The fit and finish are, as to be expected from a CRK knife, near perfect. Thanks Knife Art.

it is everything I thought it would be. Quality in spades. This is my first CRK and it's a beauty for sure. The carbon fiber scale really sets this knife apart from the standard model. It's what pushed me over the edge to purchase it. After opening & closing it a few times you'll have a hard time putting it down.
Thank you Knife Art for commissioning such an outstanding knife from CRK. Best of luck in the future.

I LOVE this knife, it is perfect for me in so many ways, let me explain;
1- it is slim and narrow, doesnt take up a lot of pocket space but employs a 3.625" blade.
2- it is lightweight for its size 3.7 oz i mean thats insane for the size of this knife overall.
3- TI and Carbon Fiber, ok whats not to love here? Lightweight, strong materials finished to PERFECTION, no blade play adjustments needed, no centering issues, no sticky lock issues, NOTHING, the knife is perfect!
4-the blue accents on the lanyard bead and knife are a nice touch (personal preference).
5- the blade seems to hold an edge about equivalent to spyderco's S30V which is fine by me, it came from the factory with a slightly convexed edge (not un even it was once again perfect in this regard as well), but the slightly rounded sharpened edge will be a little more difficult to touch up on my edge pro, will probably strop by hand for awhile until it needs to be resharpened and i will send it off to chris reeve. Im good at sharpening but i dont want to on a 455$ knife. This is why i plan to buy ANOTHER carbon sebenza from the fine folks at Knifeart.

CRK is one of the best out there and the carbon fiber version maintains the same quality levels as their other knives. I especially like the weight of this version as it does not weigh down my pocket. It is closer to the small Sebenza in weight than a large Ti Sebe. Another nice feature is that the scale does not show marks like the full Ti version.

Excellent knife from Chris Reeve. Very comfortable, very light in weight, thanks to the carbon fiber. I am delighted with this knife! Thank you so much to the KnifeArt for the wonderful and prompt service!

I already own a small sebenza, but I could not resist the carbon fiber. Knife is light and carries easily in pocket. Incredibly sharp and holding its edge fantastic (as expected). My only problem is that my friends are jealous and want me to give up my small one (to one of them) now that I have the large! Fantastic knife, and great service (fast, accurate shipping) from KnifeArt. Thank you for the great knife!

One of the most beautiful version Sebenza I've had :)

I bought the Large Sebenza 21 with Carbon Fiber handles. It's an excellent knife. Fit and finish is very clean. No splinters, hairs or blemishes on the carbon fiber. The knife came to me smooth with about a 50% lockup. Knife came sharp out of the box (not hair splitting sharp, but use ably sharp. The only issue i've had with the knife is with the pocket clip. I don't know if this pertains to all sebenzas because this is the only one i've ever owned or handled, but i took the pocket clip off once to see how the knife would be in my pocket (was going to buy the handle insert) and the screw came out stripped. This was due to the pocket clip hole being slightly off center from the handle threads. It didn't damage anything because the screws are softer than the titanium, but i had to wait for them to send me (free) another screw. After i got it all put back together about a week later my girlfriend sat down next to me on the couch and the clip caught her sweatshirt and pulled the clip out. I had to remove the clip from the knife to bend it back, and again the screw stripped. So they sent me two screws that time, and since then, about a year later, that one screw is still in there just fine, with the spare in the box. I don't know if that was an issue purely with my knife, or if there are other knives with the issue. Knowing about the tolerances on the sebenza, it surprises me that that's an issue. Unless it was made to be that way so that the screw doesn't back itself out, who knows. But that one little flaw doesn't ruin the knife at all. I would also like to change out the rather ugly screws on the carbon fiber side of the knife, the reeve made female pins of the knife are very nice looking, but the front male screws look like something off of a gumball machine knife. When i send the knife in for a "spa treatment" i'm going to have them fit a handle insert as well as a new lanyard and new male screws. Then it will be perfect.

This knife feels totally different from the regular titanium sebenza. I really like it.
