The head is 80CRV2 high carbon steel with a black oxide Caswell finish. 80CRV2 is the steel behind every Winkler production tool. On a hatchet this size, impact toughness is the primary requirement, and 80CRV2 absorbs chopping and splitting shock without chipping or deforming. The black oxide finish provides a corrosion barrier and non-reflective surface.

The sculpted camo G-10 handle has 3D contoured grip surfaces for maximum hand security during repetitive swinging. G-10 is completely impervious to moisture, chemicals, and temperature extremes.
