A modern version of the Fairbairn-Sykes commando dagger, this knife demonstrates its pedigree of design, history, and materials. When it comes to tactical knives, almost no other knife maker is as recognizable in the field as William W. Harsey, Jr. Bill Harsey Jr. has been creating masterpieces in tactical edged weapon design for the United States military for decades. As a designer, he has been invited to collaborate with some of the biggest knife companies in the business too, from Spartan Blades to Chris Reeve Knives.
At 10.75" in overall length, this double edge dagger is created from 3/16th" CPM S35VN steel, which uses a mixture of Vanadium as well as Niobium to create an alloy which is not only incredibly strong and hard (HRC 58-60), but also corrosion-resistant. The crystalline steel matrix created by the alloying process allows for serrations at a microscopic level, which provides for an incredibly sharp edge that holds its form longer than most other steels.
The dagger blade is given an additional protective coating, for additional hardness and a finish that is extremely resistant to corrosion, scratching, and marring. The hidden tang design results in an exposed pommel, which is ideal for crushing or as an impact tool for breaking glass. At 6.72oz for a knife of its size, this knife is lightweight, but sacrifices nothing in balance and reach. The Spartan Harsey is the quintessential combat dagger, doing Spartan knives, Bill Harsey, and a long line of Special Forces knives that have come before it proud.
The 3D contoured canvas Micarta handles, providing a sure grip in any weather condition, wet or dry, and for reliable balance and lightweight construction. Injection-molded sheath with active retention thumb lever performs as well as it looks.
