Benchmade 940 Osborne
The Benchmade 940 Osborne is one of the most iconic EDC knives ever made. When Benchmade first released this design over twenty years ago, it set a new standard for what a modern everyday carry knife could be. The man behind it was the late Warren Osborne, an Australian-born knife maker who spent decades building handmade folders from his shop in Waxahachie, Texas. We carried Warren Osborne's custom knives here at KnifeArt for years; we were very familiar with the design and the craftsmanship that inspired them.
The Osborne 940 features a 3.4-inch reverse tanto blade, a profile that gives you a strong tip and a generous belly for slicing. The standard model comes in CPM-S30V stainless steel with green aluminum handles and weighs just 2.9 ounces. Benchmade's AXIS lock mechanism keeps the blade securely open during use and allows smooth one-handed closing. Every 940 ships with a reversible deep-carry pocket clip for left or right-hand carry.
We stock the full Benchmade 940 series. The Benchmade 940-1 Osborne comes with carbon fiber scales and S90V steel for those who want a lighter, higher-performance build. The Benchmade 940-2 swaps in black G10 handles and keeps the S30V blade at a lower price point. Benchmade has also released the Benchmade 940 black blade variant and, for those who want an automatic option, the Benchmade Osborne auto. We keep as many Benchmade 940 carbon fiber and standard variants in stock as possible so you can get exactly the one you want without waiting on a backorder.
The Benchmade Osborne knife has earned its reputation through two decades of real-world carry and use. It is not a knife that became popular because of marketing. Knife enthusiasts, first responders, and everyday carriers chose it because it works. Every Benchmade Osborne we sell is genuine and backed by Benchmade's limited lifetime warranty and their LifeSharp sharpening service. If you have questions about which 940 is right for you, give us a call. We have been carrying and selling these knives for years.
Let's start with the Benchmade Osborne 940 Axis Tactical Folding Knife. Designer Warren Osborne gave his all when coming up with this little beauty. 3.4 inches of the overall 7.78 inch consists of a stainless S30-V Steel for the greatest durability. The Green Anodized 6061-T6 frame set with stainless steel liners and Purple Anodized Titanium frame all combine to weigh a mere 2.9 ounces. This knife is perfect for everyone. The Benchmade Osborne 154cm has dual thumb studs to accommodate either right or left handed users.
The Benchmade 940 SBK Osborne Axis Tactical Folding Knife is much the same as the 940. The stand out differences come in the black coated stainless steel blade and liners. This super strong little knife also boasts a partially serrated blade. It still sports dual thumb studs for left or right handed users. This unit is perfect every day knife for anyone who likes to be prepared for anything.
And last but certainly not least is the Benchmade 940-1. Although it has the same compact 3.4 in. blade and an overall length of 7.87 in. this knife stands out from the rest of the 940 line with an S90-V stainless steel blade, black contoured carbon fiber frame, Blue Anodized barrel spacers and a total weight of 2.44 ounces.
