The Jenny Wren with Axe Head and Spike is a compact tomahawk made by RMJ Tactical, a team specializing in hand-forged tomahawks for over three decades. Designed for close quarters combat and light breaching, the Jenny Wren fills the role of a high-quality utility 'hawk, good for situations from forest exploration to breaking through light walls and doors to self-defense. There are multiple sharp edges - the primary cutting head, the top of the axe head, the bottom of the axe head and the top/bottom of the spike point. RMJ doesn't make tomahawks that function as mere replica pieces; the Jenny Wren maintains the features that still make 'hawks great while being crafted with techniques and materials far upgraded from the weapons swung in the eighteenth century. This tactical axe is specially formulated for close quarters action as well as lighter, more compact carry.
The head is milled from 0.25" 80 CRV2 steel at 57-58 HRC, with a differential heat treatment akin to that of classic samurai swords. This heat treatment offers greater impact resistance and hardness along the forward edge and spike—the striking areas where that hardness and edge retention is most needed—and flexibility in the spine down to the handle. The cerakote finish also grants greater resistance to wear, corrosion, chemical damage, and impact damage.
The forward edge measures 2 5/8", designed for the abuse of the field, chopping through anything you need cut, be it brush, branches, or any other chores that need the use of a sharp blade. The head, from the forward edge to the end of the spike, is 5 3/4". The spike itself is 1 3/4", long enough to penetrate a variety of objects kevlar, steel doors, tires—while short enough to maintain the tomahawk's balance.
The handle is 3/8" thick with full tang I-Beam design and G-10 3D machined handle scales, and brings the overall length of the weapon to 11.5" and twenty ounces in weight.
You choose the handle color: black, hyena brown, or dirty olive. The Jenny Wren also comes with a bottom-eject Kydex scabbard with RMJ's Low Rid MOC Straps; normally the scabbard is worn on the belt so the tomahawk can be freed and dropped into the hand, but it can also be pointed so the handle faces up, allowing the weapon to be concealed under almost any type of jacket.
