"This is the All-American fixed blade knife! Designed in consultation with US Special Forces, the 'Green Beret' with a 5.5" blade length reduces some of the blade length of the 7" model - yet is extremely robust."
This efficient, compact knife originally designed for combat applications in the U.S. Army Special Forces is now available to civilians. Manufactured deep in the American heartland in Boise, Idaho, the Reeve Green Beret 5.5" Model is a knife that has the durability and reliability to go along with its sleek appearance.

The American-made S35VN steel is made by Crucible Industries, developed with input by Chris Reeve. The 55-57 RC CPM S35VN Stainless Steel blade is protected by a unique coating called Gun-Kote. Manufactured by KG, Gun-Kote was originally developed for the military to protect the metal on firearms. With that in mind, you can know for sure that your Green Beret's blade is adequately protected from the elements when you put it to the test. With serrations at the base of the blade, the Green Beret is equipped to cut through even the toughest material. Its spearpoint blade shape provides a durable and useful blade shape.

The handle is made from a blasted black canvas micarta, a fibrous material that is waterproof and tougher than it looks. Every material used in the making of the Green Beret is among the best available, and you'll find its performance lives up to your expectations.

Although it measures in at a total of 10.875" and 11.8 oz, don't be deceived by its size - this knife means business. The Green Beret comes with a First Spear brand sheath made for Chris Reeve Knives (also American-made) for accessible waist-level carrying so it is never out of reach when you need it most. The sheer toughness of this knife alone makes it worth your consideration, and the fact that it has the good looks to match make this a worthy consideration for collectors, military, survivalists, outdoorsmen and knife enthusiasts alike.

Have both the Pacific and the Green Beret 5.5 and they are both excellent! The handles are super grippy, and overall are well-designed and efficient, not to mention they are razor sharp and heavy duty. Only thing is I wish Knifeart had sharpening stones in stock but it's no big deal. Haven't really had a chance to use either one but there's no doubt in my mind they will do whatever I need them to. Just as everyone else has been saying, excellent customer service and lightning fast shipping. Will be getting all of my knives from here from now on. If you're on the fence about the Chris Reeve Green Beret 5.5", buy it!! You won't regret it worth every dime

5  CR 5.5" GB is a REMARKABLE knife, July 20, 2014Chris Reeve Green Beret 5.5 Knife

This knife is the ideal size for fighting or dressing animals from feral hogs to squirrels. It cuts through flesh with surgical accuracy and the partially serrated blade does fast work on joints and tough thick hog sternum.

The CPM S35VN steel in this heavy blade has REMARKABLE cross grain impact resistance. You can literally drive it through wood or bone with a mallet without cracking or bending this heavy duty knife. I prefer uncoated knives, but the K-G Gunkote is remarkably tough and resilient.

BLOOD and even GREASE wash out of the Foliage Green Canvas Micarta handle with Simple Green and water (10:1 dilution) much to my delightful surprise.

I prefer the old Foliage Green sheath that is no longer available from Spec-Ops, but the Coyote Tan sheath from my 7" CR GB is woven into the left Molle strap of my Coyote Tan Blackhawk hydration pack and will accommodate either knife well.

I carry the 5.5" model just about every day in a custom Kydex non-marring sheath that is made by C4 Industries. Along with the CR Ti-Lock in my back pocket, you just can't beat it.

Chris Reeve Knives service department is simply the best and VERY accommodating. My 7" knife was re-coated and sharpened FREE after I tested it chopping wood for kindling and BONE. They were supposed to charge me by the letter of their warranty, but did not, at their discretion.

I HIGHLY recommend CR knives and this one in particular. If I can take only one knife with me when I bug out, it would be this knife.
