Chris Reeve Small Inkosi - Tanto Blade - CPM MagnaCut

Chris Reeve Small Inkosi - Tanto Blade - CPM MagnaCut
The American-made Chris Reeve Small Inkosi Tanto in CPM MagnaCut brings a reinforced heavy-duty tip. The Inkosi is overbuilt compared to the Sebenza, with a thicker blade, larger pivot, and heavier-duty hardware packed into a smaller package. The 2.8-inch tanto blade is built for hard use and heavy-duty tasks without concern. Smaller than the Small Sebenza 31, the Small Inkosi is a true pocket knife, a compact, tank-like pocket knife. Some find it too small, others appreciate the pocket knife size and overbuilt construction. At 3.1 ounces it will not weigh you down. The Inkosi features dual titanium thumb lugs for easy one-hand opening with either hand and Finger grooves for the index and middle finger machined into the handle frame, unlike the Sebenza's single index finger groove, for a positive, consistent grip. The frame lock allows one-handed closing.
The stainless CPM MagnaCut blade has a shallow hollow grind that is almost like a flat grind, providing excellent cutting ability and strength at the edge. The blade spine acts as a thumb rest with clean, precision-machined jimping for traction. The blade is 0.13" thick, stouter than the Small Sebenza 31's 0.12" blade, giving the Inkosi additional strength. The stonewashed finish hides scratches and provides a uniform appearance. MagnaCut at 63-64 HRC provides the best edge retention available in a CRK folder.
Titanium provides an extremely strong frame by its weight-to-strength ratio, and the flat handle slabs provide the most compact, slimmest carry profile. The fit and finish is considerably higher than standard EDC folders. The sandblasted titanium is grippy and utilitarian. The titanium frame lock delivers a "bank vault" feel from extremely high tolerances and a handle lapped perfectly flat. A ceramic lock ball inlaid into the titanium lockbar interfaces with the hardened steel blade tang for positive engagement with no lock rock, and the extremely hard ceramic virtually eliminates the play that softer titanium-on-metal surfaces develop. The Inkosi pivot features larger phosphor bronze washers with deep lubrication pockets, creating a very rigid folding knife when opened. A detent holds the blade closed until you need it.
The knife is user-serviceable through complete disassembly and reassembly, and features a titanium pocket clip offset from the lockbar, a lanyard for pocket removal and handling, microfiber cloth, Loctite, fluorinated grease, 5/64" L wrench, and documentation. CRK will refinish the titanium through their Spa treatment, and every Inkosi is backed by a lifetime warranty from Boise, Idaho. The name Inkosi means "Chief" in Zulu, a naming tradition from the Reeve family's South African heritage. KnifeArt has been an authorized CRK dealer for over twenty years. Product Reviews
I'm a long time customer of Knifeart. First, shipping was super fast, and item well packaged. The knife is my second small Inkosi, but first Tanto Blade, which is super sharp. The texture of the knife allows for good grip. The knife is still new so it takes both hands to open, but I'll adjust after so more use. These small Inkosi knives are just the right size for EDC.You can never go wrong with a Chris Reeve knife no matter what the size.
These guys answered the phone when I had a question and shipped fast. The knife is great- the small Inkosi is a bit smaller than anticipated, but it’s a great EDC. Would definitely buy from KnifeArt again
My first CRK, won't be my last. Seamless expedited ordering, processed and shipped before I new it. And great follow up.
